How does Virtual Centrex service work?
Virtual Centrex uses the special SIP protocol to carry voice over a broadband internet connection. It offers a single telephony solution for organisations.
What software and hardware do I need?
You make and receive phone calls to and from "real" phone numbers or other VoIP users, using any of these options:
- An exisitng analogue or DECT telephone handset which requires an adaptor
- SIP enabled IP phones are dedicated VoIP telephones that plug directly into the Internet (you pick up and dial like any other phone).
- Soft Phone, this is software which you use with a headset and microphone through your computer
What happens if my phone is offline? Or my Internet dies?
Calls can be forwarded to another regular (PSTN) number (at a cost) or delivered to voicemail (note SMS notification available on voicemail).
Can I reserve sequential phone numbers for future use?
If you think that your business will grow requiring additional phone numbers, you can reserve them when ordering your original phone numbers. To do this will cost 50p per reserved line per month and when you need to activate them, just contact us. Once activated, the numbers are charged at the normal rate, £9.99 per month.
